Every vintage dress has a story. Some become part of yours.
This extraordinary Vivienne Westwood-inspired wedding dress holds a particularly special place in my heart.
I bought this beauty from a wonderful local lady I call my Jamaican Mum, Ice — one of my very first local customers. What started as a vintage sale soon became a beautiful friendship.
One day she told me she had brought an incredible dress out of a wheeler granny bag.
I knew immediately it was something special.
We put her in the window at Flaming Moth Vintage, and I sold it for her.
It didn’t stay there for long. She was snapped up by a group of wonderfully creative, fashion-inspired students.
The dress is one of the most beautiful and unusual pieces I have ever had the pleasure of owning. It has that unmistakable Vivienne Westwood bridal spirit — reminiscent of her iconic blue Tartan wedding dress.
I can still imagine her as the centrepiece of the most magical snowy Christmas wedding…
And now, every Christmas Eve, she pops in and gives me Jamaican rum cake and sorrel!
